Our Refuge

Psalm 46

God is our refuge, a very present help in trouble.

The Lord not only is a refuge or fortress for us, He is our helper when we are in trouble.  God's help is exceeding or abundant. Paul talked about this.

Ephesians 3:20—Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

2. The Savior's presence is accessible to us.

Ephesians 3:12—In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

3. We have Serenity from the Lord.

Isaiah 26:3—Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

God addresses the issue of our fear in His Word. He offers practical insights in dealing with our fears.

1. The Paralysis from fear.

Proverbs 29:25—The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.

2. Our Partner during fear.

Hebrews 13:6—So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Psalm 118:6
—The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

Psalm 23:4—Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

3. God's Provision for fear.

Isaiah 41:10—Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Psalm 62:6—He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.

Come to the water, there is a vast supply;

There is a river that never shall run dry.

BE STILL —46:10

Isaiah 26:3—Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

We are to be still in times of Sorrow.

Time of sorrow or worry can rob us of our peace and joy. God wants us to be still and KNOW Him. Take your burdens to the Lord and leave them there.

1 Peter 5:7—Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
